About Adamson Training and Consulting

Our Team

Adamson Training & Consulting is a group of like-minded professionals who believe in raising the standard of roofing and building-envelope performance through independent oversight, technical expertise, and practical industry experience.

Founded by Thomas Adamson, Adamson Training & Consulting was established to bridge the gap between construction execution, quality assurance, and long-term asset performance. Our team brings hands-on trade knowledge, consulting experience, and an education-first mindset to every project we support.

Thomas Adamson is a roofing professional and educator with extensive experience in construction, quality assurance, and technical training within Alberta’s roofing industry. His background includes hands-on field experience, third-party consulting, and instructional roles focused on improving workmanship, compliance, and long-term system performance.

We work on behalf of building owners, property managers, and general contractors to provide independent, third-party roofing and building-envelope consulting services, including quality assurance observations, roof condition assessments, forensic investigations, and advanced testing such as Electronic Leak Detection (ELD).

As an independent firm, our focus is on identifying real risks, verifying compliance with project requirements and industry standards, and providing clear, defensible reporting that supports informed decision-making. We do not install roofing systems, which allows us to remain objective and free of conflicts of interest.

At Adamson Training & Consulting, we believe well-informed teams, proper oversight, and accountability at every stage of construction are essential to protecting assets and extending the service life of roofing systems.

Meet Thomas Adamson

With over 20 years of experience in the roofing and building envelope industry, I’ve built my career on a foundation of hands-on expertise, leadership, and a commitment to advancing quality across Alberta and beyond

My Journey

I began my career in 2006 in Europe, working hands-on with the installation of a wide variety of roof systems. In 2011, I entered the Canadian market, joining a national roofing company where I quickly advanced to the role of foreman. By 2012, I was leading crews and projects across multiple sectors.

In 2017, I was offered a management role at a smaller local roofing company, which expanded my knowledge of business operations and project delivery. In 2019, I returned to the national company in a leadership capacity before moving into roof consulting in 2021. At that time, I accepted a senior project manager role with a local building envelope company, focusing on a diverse range of projects within the commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential sectors.

Educator & Mentor

In 2022, I expanded my career into education as an instructor at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). There, I train roofing apprentices to become certified journeypersons, passing on the industry’s best practices to the next generation. Teaching has deepened my belief that excellence in roofing starts with strong training and a dedication to quality

Credentials That Back My Work

I’m proud to hold the following professional designations:

  • Red Seal Endorsed (RSE) Alberta Journeyperson Certificate

  • Registered Roof Observer (RRO) with the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) since 2021

This combination of practical trade experience, leadership, consulting, and instruction uniquely positions me as both a professional and educator, dedicated to raising the standard of roofing inspections and consulting throughout Alberta and British Columbia

TESTIMONIALS

“His ability to provide expert guidance, navigate complex challenges, and ensure quality results makes him an invaluable partner to have on your team.”

A few years ago, I worked with Thomas on a science centre renovation project and it was an excellent experience. He’s extremely knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and takes real pride in his workmanship, supported by a thorough quality control process. Even with unique challenges like circular, sloped roofs, Thomas managed the project with precision and professionalism. I would highly recommend him as a consultant for any project.
